History
In 1988, Ken and Kathy Kram started Sugar Bears Day Care, licensed by the State of Michigan as a “Family Home” facility with a maximum child capacity of six children.
As Sugar Bears continued to grow in size and the demand for quality childcare increased, the Krams opened Krambrooke Children's Center in 1997. Within a year, families with children graduating from preschool began requesting a Kindergarten program so their children could continue on at Krambrooke.
In 1999, Krambrooke received accreditation for the Core Knowledge curriculum for preschool through 8th grade students. The kindergarten program began, and with a team of dedicated teachers and support staff, the small school expanded to include first through fifth grade. In the fall of 2002, Krambrooke-Griffin Academy (KGA), the only official Core Knowledge private school in Michigan, opened its doors.
Currently, KGA offers private education to students in junior kindergarten through eighth grade, with an emphasis on individualized lessons, a classical approach, character education, and smaller classroom sizes.
Additional services for our community include tutoring services, private music lessons, early reading classes for 3 and 4 year olds, and a summer activity center for school age students.
"Teaching and caring for the children of our community since 1988."
