Orton-Gillingham Approach
KGA uses the Orton-Gillingham approach to phonics, which includes the following components: a systematic and logical approach to language; a gradual, orderly progression of learning; sound/symbol association; a cognitive approach, a cumulative and integrated path, so that students move from known to new material; an alternating focus on spelling and reading so that both develop together as a skill; so students think through language problems, rather than taking guesses at words; and a concentrate on fluency through drills. The Orton-Gillingham approach is emotionally sound, in that it takes into account how the student grasps concepts and the degree of effort required to master language. The Orton-Gillingham approach is based on over sixty years of learning research.
KGA offers diversified curriculum and individualized student learning in teaching all aspects of reading, writing, phonics, and spelling.
