Core Wisdom
At KGA, we believe students need a value system based on Core Wisdom. Core Wisdom encompasses basic character attributes which guide us through life and are historically and biblically important. This program explores character attributes such as Integrity, Respect, Honesty, Kindness, and Discipline. Most importantly, Core Wisdom promotes self-respect. Students need to learn these attributes at an early age in order to succeed in life. A strong value system enables students to handle situations appropriately with siblings, parents, peers, teachers, ministers, employers, and anyone else who might enter their lives.
Core Wisdom binds character attributes with the morals and values taught at home. These values that inspire growth and understanding will be taught through literature and discussion, allowing more opportunities for you and your child to navigate these concepts. KGA students will be better prepared both academically and morally and have the knowledge to guide them in making appropriate choices.
Core Wisdom also brings awareness to topics such as world religion, a required Core Knowledge® concept. Religion is a shaping force in the story of civilization and the Core Knowledge® sequence introduces children in the early grades to major world religions. Core Wisdom allows for a deeper exploration of religious concepts and how they relate to the everyday lives of our students.
The purpose of Core Wisdom is to provide a basis for world religion principles and to understand the many events and ideas in history and relate them to the opportunities and choices we make today. This program respects global differences while representing over 100 different religions. Core Wisdom is appropriate for all students, regardless of personal religious beliefs.
